Whistler’s Ice Kingdom is open until the end of March 31st 2018, leaving you plenty of time to plan a family trip up to Whistler to experience the immersive wonderland of Ice Kingdom. Both children and adults will have plenty to enjoy while you’re here, test your sense of direction with the snow maze, take a ride down the slippery snow slide, or just grab some hot chocolate and stare at all the incredible snow sculptures surrounding you.
Ice Kingdom is the brainchild of master carver, David Xu Rui. The inspiration? A 300-year-old Chinese tradition of family and friends gathering to create sculptures from snow and ice. Ice Kingdom is a celebration of this activity, rooted with family values, which saw friendly competitions with other families to see who could display the most intricate piece of art during long winters.
The Ice Kingdom will be open, rain, snow, or shine for two months and only takes a half hour to 2 hours to explore! There really is no reason for you not to check it out this year. Head there after-dark for a really treat as the Ice Kingdom lights up in full colour! Check out the hours it’s open below:
- Monday to Thursday: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM
