CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK’S DAY IN VANCOUVER AT THE 2017 CELTIC VILLAGE AND STREET PARTY

by Blog Updates |

Vancouver is already working to be one of the greenest cities in the world, but this weekend it’s going to get even greener! St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching on Friday, March 17, and there are plenty of chances to celebrate the Irish holiday with a little jig or a glass of green beer in Vancouver.

While there will be no St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Vancouver this year, are still plenty of festivities happening around town. Whether you’re after a green beer, a perfectly poured Guinness, or some Irish Dancing, there’s something for everyone this St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Vancouver.

Did you know: CelticFest Vancouver is Western Canada’s largest annual Celtic celebration? Vancouver’s toast to the Emerald Isle has become an annual springtime tradition in the downtown core for good reason.

The highlight of the week-long festival is the Celtic Village street festival that will be held at Robson Square and the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza on Friday and Saturday (March 17 – 18). Expect to see lively music, dance, fun, food, and shopping too!

You can meander through the authentic Celtic village and street market featuring handcrafted, artisan gifts as well as food and drinks. Plus, you can’t have a St. Patrick’s Day celebration without beer, and a special beer garden will be open from noon – 11pm each afternoon during the festivities.

For the music fans, there will be three stages for live performances from some of the hottest Celtic music groups (including local-favourite Delhi to Dublin), highland games demos, SFU’s award-winning pipe band, as well as troupes of Irish dancers.

It’s not all about the beer: face-painting and other family-friendly fun will also take centre stage to ensure that the party is appropriate for kids of all ages. Hunting for things to do during Spring Break in Vancouver? CelticFest definitely has a few answers for kid-friendly entertainment. Take a look at the event schedule to make sure you don’t miss any of the events or topnotch entertainment.

The CelticFest Village and Street Party is open from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on both Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18. A $10 cover charge will be in effect starting at 7 p.m. (When the real party begins).

How will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Vancouver this year?
